At Bonsella, we’re proud to be a workplace where our people can flourish.

Our space

Our innovative new office space is designed to be open, maximise natural light and encourage a social environment. We look after our team, so they can look after you.

We want all of our staff to not just be happy coming to work, but to be happy in the work they do – and environment plays a huge role in that. In fact, our office even won the ‘Best Commercial Fitout’ category at the 2017 MBA Awards. To us, our office isn’t just a building. It’s an extension of our values, and the physical manifestation of our commitment to provide the best possible experience to our staff and clients.

Our Team

Our people make us who we are, and we go to great lengths to ensure they’re not just comfortable, but thriving at work. We encourage healthy work/life balance, and we hold regular team bonding activities. Whether it’s lawn bowling, surf lessons, paintballing or getting involved in charitable activities like the Cancer Council’s ‘Shave for a Cure’ – we treat our staff like family.

Bernard Hardy FCA | Director
Registered Self-managed Superannuation Fund Auditor

Bern is a founding partner of Bonsella. He has international experience as the CFO of a large UK company as well as experience in other significant accounting firms in Australia. Bern can provide advice to both large and small businesses, loves a laugh and believes in a balanced approach to work and life. Aside from accounting, he’s passionate about sport, travel and spending time with his family – in particular his two young daughters.

Jae Seol CPA | Director

Jae has over 15 years’ experience in accounting. He holds a Bachelor of Economics with a Masters in Accounting. He has worked in a number of firms ranging from small practices to Big 4 firms. He’s passionate about small business and is an expert when it comes to small business taxation and accounting matters. Jae moved to Canberra from Brisbane in 2007, and enjoys living in Canberra with his family, including his two children.

Dion Cannell CA | Director
Registered Self-managed Superannuation Fund Auditor

Dion prides himself on his ability to understand client requirements and exceed their expectations. A founding partner of Bonsella, he explains the most complex taxation issues in a non-intimidating manner. Dion also relishes his appointment of treasurer on the board for Menslink, an association he is proud to have an affiliation with. His weekends are usually spent on a soccer pitch, although sport has taken a bit of a backseat since the arrival of his two daughters. Nowadays, you’re more likely to find him singing the ‘Frozen’ soundtrack than kicking goals.

Rebecca Gorman CA | Senior Manager

Rebecca was so good at her job that she actually started life in the accounting industry before graduating from the University of Canberra with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2008. She completed her Chartered Accountancy in 2015, and now specialises in providing taxation and accounting services for small to medium enterprises. Rebecca prides herself on understanding clients’ day-to-day needs but can easily transition into more complex taxation and accounting matters at the drop of a hat. She has a proactive attitude and sees herself as a trusted business advisor rather than just an accountant.

Tom Simmonds CA | Senior Manager

Tom is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over six years’ experience in public practice. His career has seen him work in some of the Big 4 firms, and he brings a broad range of experience with him to the Bonsella team. Tom is passionate about helping start-up businesses get off on the right foot, and he prides himself on reducing the workload that compliance can so easily have on small businesses. Originally from Canberra, Tom lived and worked in Sydney for three years before he decided Canberra was where he really wanted to be. He recently married Lucy, is a bona fide coffee addict and is more than happy to discuss any sport you like (preferably during a round of golf).

Aaron Coddington CA | Senior Manager

Aaron is a qualified CA with eight years’ experience in public practice. Aaron also holds a sports management degree but finds accounting far more exciting. Aaron has worked in Big 4 firms as well as smaller accounting firms in Canberra and Perth. He plays a number of sports but is particularly keen on AFL, basketball and golf. He loves working closely with small business owners to help maximise their wealth and achieve their business goals. He also possesses the uncanny (and useless!) skill of being able to recite the alphabet, backwards, at speed.

Kirstie Hardy| Business Manager

Kirstie has over 10 years’ experience managing Bonsella and is responsible for ensuring our systems and processes are all running as smoothly as possible. Her role includes HR management, marketing, internal accounting processes and general business improvement projects, as and when they come along. Kirstie is in the office four days a week and spends the rest of her time driving her kids around Canberra, trying to keep fit, and organising her next holiday.

Events

2020

End of Financial Year Celebration

After a busy year and a crazy few months leading up to the end of financial year (thanks to COVID-19), the Bonsella team were able to enjoy a celebratory dinner at Lanterne Rooms to relax and unwind! Our EOFY dinner is always a great night to help celebrate our staff and the successful end to a busy financial year…before we wake up the next day and do it all again for the next financial year!

2020

Team Building

Bushfires and COVID-19 unfortunately put a 2020 retreat out of the question. But we instead enjoyed a Friday participating in barefoot bowls, followed by a long and leisurely lunch at the Piallago Estate

2019

Christmas Party

The team enjoyed lawn games by the lake and a beautiful picnic dinner catered by “Schmicnics”. The weather was kind, with Canberra turning on a beautiful, calm and balmy summer afternoon/evening.

2019

Bonsella Retreat

The Bonsella team enjoyed two nights “glamping” at Cuppacumbalong and the Tharwa Valley Forge, just outside Canberra.  We spent our timw participating in team building activities including treasure/activity hunts, pizza making, painting and topped it off by all contributing to the creation of a metal sculpture that we now proudly display in the office.
